Imagine a four season New England heaven and you have glimpse of this corner of paradise known as Sweet Pond Eco-Community. As you drive into Guilford there are dairy farms, pastures, meadows, and forests sprinkled with old farm houses. At every corner is another reminder of what makes Vermont the Green Mountain state with its rivers and lakes. Over 80% of the state is covered with forests. As you drive up to Sweet Pond Eco-Community there is a venerable two hundred year old oak tree nestled by a stonewall that was the Town Pound in the l800's where stray animals were brought to. Behind it sits the Blacksmith shop that was built in the late 1700's.

As you look to the eastern sky there is a magnificent forest with old oaks, maples, pines, beech, towering hemlocks and streams. Overlooking the apple orchard, which will be the site of Sweet Pond Eco Community, is a lovely 4 acre beaver pond surrounded by marshes that is a sanctuary to all kinds of birds and animals. In the spring and summer the meadows are filled with butterflies that dance among the wild flowers, darting scarlet hummingbirds, blue jays, cardinals, and tapping of woodpeckers is a glorious symphony of colors and sounds.

Sweet Pond Eco Community is lovely in all four season with the famed brilliant colors of Vermont's autumn, the spectacular winter wonderlands, and even our famed 5th ''mud-season'' with the emerging sounds of spring is a delight in its own right.

Our Community will be located on approximately 70 acres of the 102 acre site. The homes will be clustered on about 3 acres in the Apple Orchard on the SW corner of the property. Approximately 50-60 acres of forested hillsides and marshland to the East of the beaver pond will be put into conservation and/or land management programs. Our intention is to protect this land for the enjoyment of our community, our neighbors, and future generations.

We welcome our neighbors and potential members to walk, ski, snow shoe, hike, and enjoy our land but please no hunting, fishing, atv's or snowmobiles at this time.
